Predictions for 2012
2012 has many predictions besides the end of the world by reasoning of the end of the Mayan calendar (I think they were just procrastinating to finish).
My predictions for 2012:
- The rise of smart TVs and the rush to build and improve upon the already growing market. The rumors of Apple diving into the TV market are going to send TV advancements into overdrive. Just think of what Apple can do with the TV market after what they accomplished with the cell phone market. I have always thought of the possibilities of motion sensors and camera technologies could play a part in the future advancements of TV. Ever since I saw the Xbox 360 Kinect advancement on the interactive game market it freed my mind of how they were going to get around the smudge marks and fingerprints of touch panel TVs. Will Apple be able to come up with something that will rival the Kinect. Think about it, your having a party and you want to select a song on Pandora this could be a simple swipe of the hand or as advanced as facial recognition to a users playlists and content. Now with the Apple bid on EPL TV rights, I think it will be sooner then later.
- Larger TVs with the move of smaller chip sets and stronger glass. Every month the Flat panel TVs get thinner and larger. I just bought a 70-inch for a client and I had to get an 80 the next month. We will see 100’s soon.
- Social media integration is a given but I do think the group that has been using social media for a couple years now will start to stagnate with social boredom. Social media hubs will have to keep up on advancements to keep users eyes on the ads that keep them a float .A number of new users will join as integration into our appliances and media devices increase social media tech. Social media is here to stay but no one knows who will stay or who will be the next Facebook.
- 3D is not as impressive as I thought it to be but with Peter Jackson’s Hobbit and his motivation for perfection he might just surprise us and push the limits and up the level of realism. Is it me or is the 3D today more of a looking into a picture then it is coming out of the picture. Now I’m not saying I’m not going to see Underworld 3D this month but I’m not going to get my hopes up that a death dealers weapon is going to fly out of the screen making me duck.
- After reinventing the TV tech market Apple is to move into the car interactivity market and put some life into our vehicles. Maybe Siri will be in the car to help.
- HTML 5 will take over the web and Flash will be moving out even more just like our adored Director Lingo and Authorware before it.
- QR (quick response) scanning will start to move fast and QR apps on the smart phones will become standard. Soon we will be scanning everything.
AR (Augmented Reality) will also start to make a move. Just think of scanning over a book or ad and seeing live action on your phone or tablet. It will be
